Pensions: San Jose Mayor Chuck Reed’s state ballot measure opposed by 19 mayors including Mayor Tony Spitaleri

After announcing a 2014 statewide pension ballot initiative with fellow mayors from around California, San Jose Mayor Chuck Reed has run into some opposition — from other mayors.

Nineteen mayors — along with two vice mayors, two county board of supervisors presidents and five additional council members — signed a letter to Reed on Tuesday urging him to abandon his effort that would see public employees pay more for their retirement.

Deborah Marks_Sunnyvale Council Building Design and Nodes Suggestions


Deborah Marks approaches City of Sunnyvale Council and public meeting on October 8, 2013 regarding the nodes along El Camino, particularly at Mathilda. Marks recommends design standards and landscaping to avoid the Urban Canyon effect. With a PowerPoint presentation, Deborah advises the setback at nodes to be 15′ with 1 story at the corner and 2 to 3 stories progressing inward from the corner and provides examples.

 

Sunnyvale Council_Don’t Sell Raynor Activity Center

Dear Sunnyvale Council members,

The City’s planned sale of the Raynor Activity Center (RAC) on Tuesday, November 19th, 2013, is wrong and I urge the Council to reconsider.

First, It is my understanding that this property was originally purchased through a bond offering that came before the voters around 1979.  I believe that this bond offering limited the sale and use of proceeds from any sale to a few specific and limited choices, but did not allow for funding a branch library.  Please identify what those choices are as part of the City’s presentation.
