Message from Councilmember-elect Michael Goldman BUTCHER’S CORNER

Courtesy Sunnyvale Councilmember-elect Michael Goldman

There is a huge development planned for “Butcher’s Corner” (see Blog for “now” vs “planned” photos) – the piece of land at the corner of Wolfe, El Camino, and Fremont. That is already the 2nd worst intersection in Sunnyvale (after 101 & 237) and this will make it just a nightmare.

Butcher’s Corner Wolfe and El Camino After Development

PLEASE write the Sunnyvale city council at council@sunnyvale.ca.gov to tell them the plans should *not* be approved – at the very least ask them to wait until the new City Council takes office in January. The city council has seen how close measure M came to passing, and how every incumbent lost. They will be responsive if they get enough emails indicating their own re-election might be in danger if they approve it.

Sunnyvale should buy it from De Anza Properties for a park. There is $18M unspent in the park dedication fund and Vidovich only spent $14M to buy it.

They are trying to get this through in the last minute while everyone is pre-occupied with holiday events by combining the final EIR report AND final plan approval (which I have never seen done) on the same Dec. 13 session – the last council session before the new council takes over.

Thanks,
Michael Goldman

His informative past research, publishing, and insights can be located at Citizens for Sunnyvale Parks & Green Spaces and Cal Pensions in Brief Blogspot. Michael’s intelligent integrity participating as a Councilmember will be the balanced, insightful and reasonable voice that the residents need today.

Like many, Michael has become frustrated with a City Council that ignores the needs of it’s residents and bends to the will of special interests. The issues of concern are finishing the downtown, solutions for worsening traffic and  crowded schools, and respectfully preserving the Sunnyvale parks and open space. Michael campaign states: “We need to expand the library, City Hall, Police and Fire facilities with realistic, cost-effective ways to build on what we have, not grandiose plans made by selling off our parks and green spaces to the highest bidder. Our population increases but infrastructure does not.” The lack of progress in finishing the downtown, worsening traffic, crowded schools, grandiose plans for the Civic Center, the lack of local branch libraries.

VOTE for Seat 7: MICHAEL GOLDMAN City of Sunnyvale Council on NOVEMBER 8, 2016.

Open Mic on Sunnyvale Planner “GET MY PENSION”

On Oct. 15, 2015, a Sunnyvale City Planner made a comment about her recommendation for a hotel at Wolfe and El Camino – not knowing the microphone was on and the city camera was running.

She wants to “GET MY PENSION” at any cost! We are extremely grateful to her for revealing explicitly the reality we see with our own eyes. This confirms it.

VOTE November 8, 2016 for:

Seat 7: Michael Goldman

Seat 5: Pat Meyering

Seat 4: Mike McCarthy
